Background
M. Zuhdi Jasser is a physician and Republican candidate running for Arizona's 4th Congressional District in the November 2026 election. Born in Canton, Ohio and raised in Wisconsin, he earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1992. He served 11 years as a U.S. Navy medical officer, reaching the rank of lieutenant commander, including a posting as staff internist for the Office of the Attending Physician to Congress. 34
Since leaving the Navy, Jasser has been in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, where he has provided primary care for more than 26 years. In 2003 he founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. He also served as vice-chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, an appointed federal role, from 2012 to 2016. 345
Jasser previously ran for the same congressional seat in 2024, losing the Republican primary to Kelly Cooper. He is not the incumbent; Greg Stanton holds the seat. 68
His campaign describes him as a "proud conservative Republican" and small-business owner. 1
