Lahn

Zach Lahn, Iowa farmer and entrepreneur, is the 2026 Republican nominee for governor in his first run for office.

Background

Zach Lahn is the 2026 Republican nominee for Iowa governor, making his first run for public office. He was born in Hinton, Iowa, north of Sioux City, graduated from Sioux City East High School in 2004, and earned a political science degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. 156

Before the campaign, Lahn worked in Republican politics and for Americans for Prosperity in Montana. In 2016 he founded Homeplace Ventures, a venture investment and operating company with interests in agriculture, real estate, and technology; he also owns and operates the King Theater in Belle Plaine, Iowa, where he currently lives. 24612

Lahn and his wife helped start the Wonder school in Wichita, Kansas, and he has described education and Iowa's future as central motivations for his candidacy. Iowa PBS noted that the governor's race is his first bid for public office. 36

Lahn won the Republican primary on June 2, 2026, and is running in the November 3 general election. Incumbent Gov. Kim Reynolds chose not to seek a third term, leaving the seat open. 215
