Background

Troy Balderson is the Republican U.S. Representative for Ohio's 12th Congressional District, having served since September 5, 2018. He was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio (Muskingum County), where he continues to reside. 13

Before entering federal office, Balderson served in the Ohio House of Representatives (2009–2011) and the Ohio Senate (2011–2018). Prior to his political career, he worked on his family's farm and ran the service department of a family-owned small business; the congressional historical biography lists his occupations as farmer and automobile dealer. 13

Balderson attended Zanesville High School (graduating in 1980), Muskingum College (1980–1982), and Ohio State University (1982–1983); the congressional biography does not list a college degree. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. 1313
