Ryan
Fazio

Republican CT state senator and 2026 GOP gubernatorial nominee challenging incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont

Background

Ryan Fazio is a Connecticut Republican politician currently serving as state senator for the 36th District, representing Greenwich, Stamford, and New Canaan. He was first elected to the state senate in 2021 and re-elected in 2022 and 2024. Before entering politics, he spent most of his career in commodities markets — including agriculture, energy, and renewable energy — and currently works at a growth equity firm investing in medium-sized businesses. He was born in Norwalk and raised in Greenwich, where he attended public schools before studying economics at Northwestern University. 126

Fazio also previously served on Greenwich's Representative Town Meeting, representing District 12, from 2020–21. 25

On May 16, 2026, Fazio won the Connecticut Republican Party's nomination for governor at the state convention, becoming the GOP challenger to incumbent Democratic Governor Ned Lamont in the November 3, 2026 general election. His campaign has centered on themes of affordability, property taxes, and fiscal change in Hartford. 91011
