Rick
Jackson

Billionaire businessman and Republican nominee for Georgia governor, challenging for the open seat in 2026

Background

Rick Jackson is a Republican businessman and the 2026 Georgia Republican nominee for governor. He has never previously held elected office; the Atlanta Journal-Constitution 2026 voter guide notes he "has never run for office." 7 He is challenging for an open seat, as incumbent Governor Brian Kemp is term-limited. 9

Jackson's career has been entirely in business. He started in collections, later moved into staffing and executive search, and founded a physician-recruitment company in 1978. He founded Jackson Healthcare in 2000, and currently serves as its chairman and CEO. 2913 Forbes has identified him as a billionaire. 414

Jackson grew up in the Atlanta area, graduating from Greater Atlanta Christian School and briefly attending Lipscomb University before leaving due to financial difficulties. 135 He is from Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. 12

Jackson won the Georgia Republican gubernatorial runoff on June 16, 2026, and faces Democrat Keisha Bottoms in what has been described as a toss-up race. 25279
