Rhett
Marques

Alabama state Rep. Rhett Marques is the 2026 Republican nominee for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District.

Background

Rhett Marques is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 91 since 2018. Born and raised in Spanish Fort, Alabama, he attended Fairhope High School (class of 1990) and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Alabama in 1994. [13, 4]

Before entering politics, Marques and his wife owned and operated Goodson Tire & Auto, an automotive service business in Enterprise, Alabama, for more than 26 years before selling it in 2023. [13, 10, 4]

In 2026, Marques secured the Republican nomination for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District, challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative Shomari Figures in the November 3 general election. He is not the incumbent in that race. [4, 15]

Marques has received endorsements from figures such as U.S. Representative Jim Jordan and is identified by the Republican Jewish Coalition PAC as a candidate of interest. [17, 6]
