Background

Maggie Goodlander is the U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, having been elected in November 2024 and sworn in on January 3, 2025. She was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, and holds a B.A. from Yale University (2009) and a J.D. from Yale Law School (2016). 123

Before her election to Congress, Goodlander served in a range of legal and national-security roles. She clerked for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, served as a foreign-policy adviser to Senator John McCain, and worked as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. She also served as counsel on the House Judiciary Committee during the first Trump impeachment and later worked at the Department of Justice, including as a deputy assistant attorney general in its Antitrust Division. 236

Prior to her election, Goodlander taught constitutional law at the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth College and served as a senior adviser to President Joe Biden. She has no prior elected offices; her congressional service beginning in 2025 marks her first elected position. 123
