Background
Laura Jones is the Democratic nominee for U.S. House of Representatives in Texas's 8th Congressional District, facing Republican Jessica Steinmann in the November 3, 2026 general election. 415 She is described by her campaign as a small-business owner, and the March 2026 Vote411 candidate guide lists her occupation as a real estate broker. 414
Jones is a self-described lifelong Texan, born and raised in Houston, and previously served as chair of the San Jacinto County Democratic Party, though the sources reviewed do not specify the dates of that role. 61415 Vote411 lists her educational background as "Some College." 14
She is not the incumbent; the district's seat is held by Republican Rep. Morgan Luttrell, who is not seeking reelection in 2026. 1115 Jones's campaign slogan emphasizes "people over politics." 18
