Background

Kristin Hook is the Democratic nominee for Texas's 21st Congressional District in the November 3, 2026, general election. She is not the incumbent; the seat is open, and she was also the Democratic nominee for the same district in 2024. [1, 6, 10]

Hook grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and later lived in San Antonio before moving to San Marcos. She earned a B.S. and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and a Ph.D. in behavioral biology from Cornell University in 2016. 1

Her career has spanned middle-school science teaching, reproductive biology research, and federal science and technology policy. She served as a science and technology policy fellow in Sen. Elizabeth Warren's office and at the National Institutes of Health, and worked as a biological scientist at the U.S. Government Accountability Office until 2023. [1, 4, 12]

Hook faces Republican Mark Teixeira, a former Major League Baseball player, in the November 2026 general election. [5, 10]
