Jimmy Gomez is the Democratic U.S. Representative for California's 34th Congressional District, having served in Congress since his June 2017 election. Born in Fullerton, California, he currently resides in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, with his family. In the 119th Congress, he sits on the House Ways and Means Committee. 12

Before his congressional service, Gomez served as a member of the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Prior to that, he worked as staff for U.S. Representative Hilda Solis and served as director of the United Nurses Association of California from 2009 to 2012. His campaign describes him as an educator, renters' advocate, and former union organizer. 35

Gomez attended Riverside Community College before earning a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA and an M.A. in Public Policy from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. 1
