Background
Jeremy Moss is a Democratic Michigan state senator representing District 7 and currently serves as the Michigan Senate's president pro tempore. 92 A lifelong Oakland County resident, he graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from Michigan State University in 2008, later completing the Michigan Political Leadership Program (Class of 2013). 32
Before entering elected office, Moss worked as a legislative aide for State Rep. Paul Condino, district director for State Rep. Rudy Hobbs, and as a freelance graphic designer. He also worked under then-Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence prior to his election to the Southfield City Council in 2011. 23 He served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2015 to 2018, then won election to the Michigan Senate in 2018, where he has served since 2019. 25
Moss is running as the Democratic candidate in Michigan's 11th Congressional District in the November 2026 general election, seeking to bring his LGBTQ advocacy experience from Lansing to Capitol Hill. 56 He is not the incumbent U.S. representative; he is seeking to win the seat while continuing to serve in the Michigan Senate. 19
