Background

Jenny Costa Honeycutt is a Republican attorney and small-business owner running for U.S. House in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District in the November 3, 2026 election. She is a lifelong Lowcountry resident who grew up on James Island, attended Ashley Hall, earned B.A. degrees in Political Studies and Speech Communication from Meredith College (2001), and received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law (2004). 21211

Before entering politics, Honeycutt practiced law at a statewide firm for eight years before opening her own firm, Costa Honeycutt, LLC, on James Island, where her practice focuses on construction professionals and related legal matters. 212

Honeycutt has served as a Charleston County Councilmember for District 9 since 2018, having been elected that November and reelected in 2022; her current council term expires December 31, 2026. 116 She is not an incumbent in the congressional race—the seat is being vacated by Rep. Nancy Mace, who is running for governor. 1923

Honeycutt secured the Republican nomination for SC-01 and received an endorsement from President Trump in July 2026. 23 She faced Democrat Nancy Lacore in a general election debate on October 7, 2026, where the candidates addressed affordability, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. 621
