Background

Jeff Van Drew is the Republican U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District. He was elected to a fourth term in 2024 and sworn in on January 3, 2025. He previously changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican on January 7, 2020. 818

Before serving in Congress, Van Drew held numerous elected positions in New Jersey, including mayor of Dennis Township (1994–95 and 1997–2003), member of the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders (1994–97), New Jersey General Assembly member (2001–07), and New Jersey state senator (2008–19). He also served as Dennis Township Fire Commissioner from 1983 to 1986. 1819

Van Drew earned a B.S. from Rutgers University and a D.D.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1979, and owned and operated a South Jersey dental practice for approximately 30 years before retiring. He and his wife reside in Dennis Township, New Jersey. 91819
