Background

Gonzalo Duran is a Bronx-born candidate for New York's 15th Congressional District in the November 2026 general election, running on the Conservative Party line. According to his campaign autobiography, he was born and raised in the Belmont section of the Bronx, graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 2003, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Fordham University in 2014. 1

Duran's autobiography states he served eight years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of sergeant, and subsequently worked at the Bronx Veterans Affairs office and the Bronx Labor Department. He also says he founded Devil Dog USA Incorporated in 2013 and serves as its CEO. 1

Duran currently holds the positions of District Leader for the 79th Assembly District and Vice Chairman of the Bronx Conservative Party, according to his campaign website. [1, 4] His campaign announced ballot access on the Conservative Party line and indicated he was also seeking an independent line under the United Alliance Party. [2, 9]

The Bronx Times reported in February 2026 that Duran entered the NY-15 race vowing to challenge what he characterized as socialism in the district, which has been represented by incumbent Rep. Ritchie Torres since 2021. 9
