S. Latimer

Democratic U.S. Representative George S. Latimer serves NY-16 and is seeking a second term in the November 2026 general election.

Background

George S. Latimer is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving New York's 16th Congressional District in the 119th Congress. A third-generation Westchester native born in Mount Vernon, New York, he has been a resident of Rye for more than 35 years. He earned a B.A. from Fordham University in 1974 and a master's degree in public administration from New York University's Wagner School in 1976. 12

Before entering politics, Latimer spent more than 20 years as a marketing executive at corporate subsidiaries of Nestlé and ITT, with project responsibilities involving AT&T, IBM, and Shearson Lehman. 1 His political career spans several decades and levels of government: he was first elected to the Rye City Council in 1987, then to the Westchester County Board of Legislators in 1991, where he served for 13 years. 1

Latimer was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2004 and to the New York State Senate in November 2012. He became Westchester County Executive in January 2018 and was reelected in November 2021. 12 He subsequently won election to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing NY-16, and is the Democratic nominee for a second term in the November 2026 general election. 511
