Frederick
D. Haynes III

Dallas pastor Frederick D. Haynes III is the 2026 Democratic nominee for Texas's open U.S. House District 30 seat.

Background

Frederick D. Haynes III (full name: Rev. Frederick Douglass Haynes III, Ph.D.) is the Democratic nominee for U.S. House District 30 in Texas in the November 2026 general election. He has served as senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas for more than four decades, with his public career centered on church ministry, community advocacy, and organizing on issues including predatory lending, voting rights, youth employment, and education. 123823

Haynes holds a bachelor's degree from Bishop College, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation; his campaign biography also references a degree from Christian Theological Seminary. 318 He has no prior elected office on record — the Fort Worth Report's candidate questionnaire lists "None" for previous offices sought or held. 1

The seat Haynes is seeking is open: redistricting placed incumbent Jasmine Crockett in a different district, and she is running for U.S. Senate rather than seeking re-election to the House. Haynes won the Democratic nomination in March 2026. 2023 He is endorsed by Justice Democrats and MoveOn, among others. 47
