Eric
Pratt

Republican Minnesota state senator Eric Pratt is the 2026 GOP nominee for Minnesota's open 2nd Congressional District seat.

Background

Eric Pratt is a Republican politician from Prior Lake, Minnesota, who has been a member of the Minnesota Senate since 2013, representing District 55 (2013–2022) and District 54 (2023–present), with his current term running through January 3, 2027. 3 He previously served on the Prior Lake–Savage School Board from January 2000 to July 2012, holding roles including chair and treasurer. 316

Before entering elected office, Pratt spent more than 30 years in banking and finance, including leadership roles at Target and U.S. Bank; the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library lists his occupation at the time of his first state senate election as banking risk management at U.S. Bancorp. 316 He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Colorado and an MBA in business administration and finance from the University of St. Thomas. 3

Pratt won the Republican primary for Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District in August 2026 and is the GOP nominee for the November 3, 2026 general election. 6 The seat is open following incumbent Rep. Angie Craig's Senate run. 6 His Democratic opponent is Matt Little. 911 Pratt has described his approach as being "boring enough to win" in what is expected to be a competitive race. 510
