Eric
Lucan

Democrat and Marin County Supervisor Eric Lucan is running for California State Assembly District 12 in November 2026.

Background

Eric Lucan is a Democrat running for California State Assembly District 12 in the November 3, 2026, election. He is currently the Marin County Supervisor for District 5 (since 2022) and is serving as the 2026 president of the Marin County Board of Supervisors. Before his county role, he served three terms on the Novato City Council (2011–2022) and as a Novato Parks and Recreation Commissioner (2007–2011). He grew up in Novato, which falls within the district he seeks to represent. 15719

Lucan's professional background spans marketing and private-sector management. He served as Chief Marketing Officer at Mike's Bikes in Novato (2014–2022) and as Marketing Director at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in San Francisco (2010–2014). Earlier in his career he also worked as a youth director and finance manager for New Life church and school. He holds an MBA from Georgia State University (2005) and a bachelor's degree in Ministerial Studies from Christian Life International. 157

The District 12 seat is open because incumbent Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D) left the race to run for the State Senate. Lucan advanced to the general election alongside fellow Democrat Jackie Elward. The race attracted outside attention in fall 2026 when a group backed by Bay Area crypto billionaires poured approximately $1.6 million into the contest, drawing criticism from both candidates. 5121417

Lucan has received endorsements from local officials including San Rafael Mayor Kate Colin and others active in Marin and Sonoma counties. He has been endorsed by YIMBY Action. His campaign focuses on North Bay leadership for Marin and Sonoma County. 468
