Background
Eric Barlow is a Republican politician from Gillette, Wyoming, born and raised on his family's ranch in Campbell County. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1984, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and later earned a veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 1998, after which he returned to Wyoming to practice as a large-animal veterinarian and operate the family ranch. 2
Barlow was first elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives in 2012 and served five terms, including a tenure as House Speaker. He subsequently won election to the Wyoming State Senate, representing District 23. [2, 9]
Barlow won the Republican nomination for Wyoming governor in the August 2026 primary, defeating a Trump-backed candidate. He is running to succeed term-limited Governor Mark Gordon in the November 3, 2026 general election. [12, 18, 20]
