Background

Critter Milton (full name Christopher "Critter" Hawkins Milton) is the Unity Party candidate for Colorado's 1st Congressional District in the November 2026 general election. Colorado Public Radio and the Unity Party of Colorado both identify him as the Unity Party nominee for U.S. CD1. 48 He is not the incumbent; Diana DeGette has represented Colorado's 1st District since 1997. 14

Milton has run for Congress multiple times as a Unity Party candidate: for Colorado's 3rd District in 2020, the 7th District in 2022, and the 1st District in 2024, in addition to his 2026 campaign. He has served as treasurer of the Unity Party of Colorado. 34 No sources confirm that he has held elected office.

Prior to his political candidacies, Milton worked as a portfolio consultant at Charles Schwab from 2007 to 2017. His LinkedIn profile also lists ongoing consulting work with Milton Life Resources and authorship under Backcountry Eagle Productions. Milton studied Business Administration at the University of Denver (2000–2005) and holds a master's degree in Personal Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning. 410 He did not return the Denver Post's 2026 candidate questionnaire. 6
