Background

Connie Chan (陳詩敏) is a Democratic politician from San Francisco who serves as the District 1 Supervisor on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, a seat she has held since January 2021. She was first elected in November 2020 and reelected in November 2024; her current term runs through January 8, 2029. She chairs the Board's Budget Committee, a role she has held since February 2023. 1

Born in Hong Kong, Chan moved to San Francisco at age 13 with her mother and younger brother and grew up in the Richmond District. She attended Galileo High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis. [16, 1]

Before her election to the Board of Supervisors, Chan worked as a community organizer, a legislative aide to Supervisors Sophie Maxwell and Aaron Peskin, a liaison in then-District Attorney Kamala Harris's office, and a representative for Assemblymember Kevin Mullin, among other public-sector roles. 16

In 2026, Chan entered the race for California's 11th Congressional District, an open seat following Nancy Pelosi's announced retirement. She received Pelosi's endorsement and advanced from California's June 2, 2026 top-two primary alongside Scott Wiener to the November 3, 2026 general election. [17, 12]
