Background
Colin Allred is a Democratic candidate seeking election to Texas's 33rd Congressional District in November 2026. He is not currently a member of Congress; he previously represented Texas's 32nd Congressional District from January 3, 2019, to January 3, 2025, serving in the 116th, 117th, and 118th Congresses. He did not seek reelection in 2024, instead running unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. 12
Allred was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2001, earned a B.A. from Baylor University in 2005, and received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014. 1
Before his congressional career, Allred played linebacker for the Tennessee Titans from 2006 to 2010. He later worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and practiced law as a voting-rights litigator at Perkins Coie. 122
For the 2026 cycle, the FEC lists his candidacy as an open seat. He won the Democratic primary runoff for the 33rd District against Rep. Julie Johnson and is the Democratic nominee for the November 2026 general election. 161720
