Background

Christina Bertrand Hines is the 2026 Democratic nominee for Michigan's 10th Congressional District, an open seat covering Macomb County. She grew up in Warren, Michigan, where she continues to reside. 1512

Hines earned a degree in political science and Chinese from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School. She went on to work as an assistant prosecutor in the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office from 2015 to 2020, then served as first assistant prosecutor in Washtenaw County from 2021 to 2024, leading the Special Victims Unit among other responsibilities. She also served as an adjunct professor of law at Wayne State University Law School from January 2024 to January 2026. 91118

In 2024, Hines ran for Macomb County prosecutor but lost to incumbent Peter Lucido. She subsequently entered the 2026 congressional race, winning the Democratic primary in August 2026 to become the party's nominee for the November general election. 12172

The Federal Election Commission classifies MI-10 as an open seat, and Hines has no prior elected office. She is not an incumbent. 1
