Republican Nevada state senator and 2026 congressional candidate for Nevada's 1st District

Background

Carrie Ann Buck (born 1971, Sioux City, Iowa) is a Republican Nevada state senator representing District 5, first elected in November 2020, and currently serving as a candidate for Nevada's 1st Congressional District in the November 2026 general election. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Montana State University (1995), a master's in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix (1998), and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University (2006). 2

Before entering politics, Buck built a career in education, including roles as a classroom teacher, English-language-learner instructor, school principal at C.T. Sewell Elementary School, and lead principal/executive director of Pinecrest Academy. She also served as president of the Pinecrest Foundation and as an adjunct professor at Touro University. 2

Buck was elected to the Nevada Senate in 2020 and served as Assistant Minority Leader in 2023. She announced her campaign for Congress on August 5, 2025, and won the Republican primary for Nevada's 1st Congressional District in June 2026, according to results reported by The New York Times and The Nevada Independent. 4121415

She is not the incumbent in the congressional race; the current representative for Nevada's 1st Congressional District is Dina Titus. Buck's campaign emphasizes public safety, her background in education, and service to Nevada families. 23516
