Background
Brett Lindstrom is a former Nebraska state senator and wealth management professional running for governor of Nebraska in 2026. Born in Lincoln and raised in Omaha, he attended Millard West High School and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he walked on as a quarterback for the Cornhuskers and majored in history. [2, 20]
Lindstrom served in the Nebraska Legislature representing District 18 from 2015 to 2023. Before and after his legislative tenure, he worked in wealth management, with his campaign biography describing nearly two decades helping Nebraska families and businesses. [2, 13, 20]
For the 2026 general election, Lindstrom is listed on the Nebraska Secretary of State's official candidate filing as the America First Party nominee for governor, with Michael Picard as his running mate. He is classified as a nonincumbent. 12 His campaign initially described the bid as an independent run before the Secretary of State's final list recorded him under the America First Party. [3, 12]
Campaign finance reports filed in October 2026 indicated limited spending in his gubernatorial campaign. [14, 15]
