Bernadette
M. Wilson / Michael K. Shower

Bernadette Wilson, Anchorage conservative activist and business owner, seeks Alaska governorship in 2026 on Republican ticket with former state Sen. Michael Shower.

Background

Bernadette M. Wilson is a Republican candidate for governor of Alaska in the November 3, 2026 election, running alongside lieutenant-governor candidate Michael K. Shower. Wilson was born on the Kenai Peninsula and raised in Anchorage. Her background includes hosting statewide television and radio programs, running Denali Disposal (a commercial waste-management company she launched in 2016), and leadership roles at Americans for Prosperity Alaska and the Alaska Policy Forum, where she served as interim executive director in 2023. She has no prior elected office and has described her outsider status as an asset. 17101517

Michael K. Shower is Wilson's running mate for lieutenant governor. A Wasilla-area resident, Shower served as an Alaska state senator from 2018 through the 34th Legislature — more than eight years in total — before leaving office. Prior to his legislative career, he spent more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, flying F-15Cs and F-22s, and holds a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and an MBA. He subsequently worked as a commercial airline pilot. 1389

The Wilson/Shower ticket was certified by Alaska's Division of Elections as a registered Republican gubernatorial ticket for the 2026 general election. Neither Wilson nor Shower is the incumbent governor or lieutenant governor. 471

Wilson's campaign has emphasized limited government, resource development, and opposition to career politicians, while also drawing scrutiny over court records related to unpaid bills reported by the Anchorage Daily News in October 2026. 151619
