Background
Barry Moore is a Republican politician from Enterprise, Alabama, born and raised on a family farm in Coffee County. He earned an A.S. from Enterprise State Junior College (1988), attended Troy State University, and received a B.S. in agricultural science from Auburn University (1992). After college he worked in the animal pharmaceutical industry, then returned to Enterprise and founded Hopper-Moore Inc., an industrial waste-hauling and general contracting company; the Congressional Directory also lists him as founder and operator of Barry Moore Industries. He previously served six years in the Alabama National Guard and Reserves. 123
Moore served in the Alabama House of Representatives for District 91 from 2010 to 2018, where he chaired the Military and Veterans Affairs Committee and was vice-chair of the Small Business and Commerce Committee. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, representing Alabama's 2nd Congressional District from January 2021. Following redistricting, he has represented Alabama's 1st Congressional District since January 3, 2025. 21216
In 2026, with U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville vacating his seat to run for governor, Moore entered the race for the open Senate seat. Endorsed by President Trump, Moore won the Republican primary runoff in June 2026 and is the GOP nominee for the November 3, 2026 general election. 89
