Background

August Lee Pfluger II is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 11th Congressional District, a seat he has held since January 3, 2021. 19 He grew up and lives in San Angelo, Texas, and was educated at the U.S. Air Force Academy (B.S., 2000), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (M.S.A., 2007), Air University (M.S., 2012), and Georgetown University (M.A., 2019). 1

Before his election to Congress, Pfluger served as a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the U.S. Air Force, and in 2019 was assigned to the National Security Council staff. He also completed a fellowship at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in 2018–2019. He retired from the Air Force in 2026. 221

In Congress, Pfluger serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and has chaired the Republican Study Committee. 2 He was named a 2026 VFW Congressional Award recipient. 7
