Background

Ashley B. Moody was born and raised in Plant City, Florida. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting and a law degree from the University of Florida, and a Master of Laws in International Law from Stetson University College of Law. 13

She began her legal career in commercial litigation at Holland & Knight before serving as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted drug, firearms, and fraud offenses. 3

Moody was elected to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County in 2006, serving as a judge for more than a decade. She then served as Florida's 38th Attorney General from 2019 to 2025. 13

Governor Ron DeSantis appointed her to the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Marco Rubio, and she was sworn in on January 21, 2025. She is a candidate in the November 3, 2026 special election to fill the remainder of that Senate term. 3913
