Background

Andrew R. Garbarino is a Republican U.S. Representative serving New York's 2nd Congressional District, a position he has held since January 3, 2021. He is a lifelong Long Islander, born and raised in Sayville, Suffolk County, New York. 12

Before his election to Congress, Garbarino served four terms in the New York State Assembly representing the 7th District from 2013 to 2020, and worked as an attorney at his family's law practice in Sayville. He earned a bachelor's degree from George Washington University (2006) and a J.D. from Hofstra University (2009). 12

In Congress, Garbarino has served in the 119th Congress (2025–2027) and chairs the House Committee on Homeland Security, according to his campaign site. He is currently seeking re-election in New York's 2nd District in the November 2026 general election. 28
